这是一首我自己读来备受感动的诗。无论经历多少磨难、多少打击、多少屈辱，只要还活着，努力给自己看，要给自己的灵魂一个交代，我是自己的主宰。这首英国诗人WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY的诗可能更能触动那些正在人生低谷中的人们的心灵。

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.

英国诗人William Ernest Henley，17岁因为患骨结核被截肢，在26岁时写了这首诗，表达自己不向命运屈服的决心。原来这首诗没有题目，在出版时由编辑加了Invictus 的题目。Invictus是拉丁语，意思是不屈。（摘自网友hussein_bond的文章）
